Reducing Restaurant Condensation

Window film provides a host of benefits when the temperature drops, not the least of which is a potential reduction in energy costs by preventing warm air from escaping through windows.

But did you know that window film can also help reduce the build-up of condensation?

In particular, restaurants have many sources of humidity -- dishwashers, boiling water, coffee pots, and people all contribute to high moisture content in the air. This high humidity often creates condensation on restaurant surfaces including glass and windows.

Condensation is caused when moist air comes into contact with a cold surface. The temperature of the surface at which condensation will form depends on the amount of water vapour in the air. The higher the humidity or water vapour content, the higher the temperature at which condensation will form on a surface.  In other words, the higher the humidity, the more likely it is that condensation will form on windows in many restaurants.

A variety of window film products have insulating properties that will prevent chilly outside air from cooling windows, thus reducing the potential for condensation to build.

Less condensation means a better view for patrons, a cleaner-looking dining environment, and less time spent cleaning large windows.

Combine condensation prevention with the added security, privacy, and energy saving capabilities of window film and you've got a great solution for many restaurants.
